Moon Saga, Pt. 2

A few hours later, back home and still stewing over the missed shot. I decided to go back out and see if the cloud cover had lifted any. It had!

But the moon was no longer colorful. Still bright, still beautiful, and about 95% full, but no color. It made me doubt what I had seen earlier.

Since I was already outside with my camera (just the phone camera—still need to get a real one) I decided to see what pictures I could get. Of course there wasn’t a clear view from the front yard, so I bumbled around in bare feet and pajamas over to the neighbor’s driveway. (There’s probably embarrassing ring camera footage)

This was the best I could do. I will own up to removing the power lines from the picture to make it prettier, but otherwise it’s unedited.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the worst picture of the most beautiful moon I’ve ever seen.

I was coming back from Go-Mart, trying to break that awful “I’ll just get gas in the morning” habit. Crossing the bridge into Bellepoint, I saw an absolutely breathtaking pink/orange moon with light so bright it left a long reflection on the river.

Not wanting to just stop in the middle of the road, I figured I could pull over somewhere around Abie’s and get a good picture.

But no. The trees obscured the shot. I drove up Greenbrier Drive, stopping at every wide spot I could find. Determined to get a picture that included the reflection on the water, I passed up some opportunities. I got greedy, y’all.

I went back toward town, parked at Pizza Hut, and traipsed across the bridge, still looking for the perfect angle. But by then, clouds had rolled in and the sky was dark. 🙁

Looking back through the camera roll, this was the best of the lot. You can see what I mean, right? The color is striking.

Watched Mr. Bumblebee while drinking my coffee this morning. He didn’t miss a single chicory flower.
