We are Ernest Vineyards because we believe that well made wines are an expression of their place, their vineyards. A B O U T T H E W I N E
A pale ruby red, very clear and bright wine. The aromas are quite intense despite the appearance of being a lightly extracted wine. On the nose there are pronounced notes of pomegranate, cherry cola, tart cranberries, red rose petals and earthy aromas behind it all. The palate is rich and concentrated with layers upon layers of decadent flavors on top of the wine's structural elements. The tannins are firm but ripe and silky; the acidity is assertive but coated with an exuberant fruitiness. The finish lingers on the palate with great concentration and freshness.

The Ernest Estate is anchored in the heart of the Freestone Valley, an area deeply defined by the extreme cold temperatures and blanketing fog from the chilly Pacific Ocean. The challenging growing conditions reward with wines of structure and restraint.

A B O U T T H E W I N E
Canary yellow and crystalline in the glass, this Chardonnay carries both brightness and viscosity. Sourced from Joyce Vineyard, perched in the cool coastal reaches of the West Sonoma Coast, the wine channels the site’s ocean influence and mineral-driven soils. Aromas of sea breeze, pink lady apple, and wild herbs rise with clarity. The palate is finely focused, delivering Meyer lemon curd and a subtle reduction that marries seamlessly with salinity and oceanic minerality. Precision, tension, and site-specific acidity define this wine, offering a brilliant example of Chardonnay shaped by the Pacific’s proximity.

On the ridge just above Freestone Valley, linked together in chilly fog, sits Joyce Vineyard. Ernest leased and began farming the site organically in 2017. At only 3-acres and planted entirely to Chardonnay, it the smallest property we farm and one of the very coldest. Goldridge soil predominates and Clone 5 of Chardonnay will perennially deliver citrus flavors and bright acidity in this environment.
