💔 THE SIDE OF SMALL BUSINESS OWNERSHIP THAT NOBODY SEES…
People see our prices. They see the wait times, and the occasional inconvenience. Sometimes they question why a menu item or store item costs what it does or why their order takes a few extra minutes.
But what they don’t see is everything that happens behind the scenes to keep a small business running.
They don’t see the countless hours, the financial sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the equipment failures, the unexpected expenses, or the moments when everything you’ve worked so hard for feels like it’s hanging by a thread.
Equipment breaks, which can be fixed but at an unexpected cost not anticipated.
But that doesn’t make the emotional or financial blow any less devastating.
When you own a small business, there isn’t a corporate office to call. There isn’t an endless emergency fund waiting to absorb the loss. There isn’t someone else who steps in and makes everything okay.
It’s you. Your family. Your livelihood. Your blood, sweat, tears, and everything you’ve poured into building something.
And sometimes, when you’re already working harder than you ever imagined possible, life hands you another obstacle that feels almost impossible to overcome.
And tomorrow? We’ll still have bills to pay, responsibilities to meet, and a business to keep moving forward.
This is the reality of small business ownership that rarely makes it onto social media.
We share the smiling face and the milestones. But behind those moments are people working tirelessly to keep the dream alive.
This is not being for sympathy, it's because we wish more people understood what it truly takes to operate a small business.
The next time you visit a small business and think something is too expensive, or you’re order is moving a little slower than you’d like, please remember that you have absolutely no idea what that business owner may have had to overcome just to open their doors that morning.
A little patience, kindness, and grace go further than you could ever imagine.
But we're also grateful that even on the hardest days, we still have something worth fighting for.
We're a family. It’s our dream. It’s our livelihood. And it’s a whole lot of heart. 🩵
