For those who were in Harrison yesterday, you are probably well aware of the craziness and excitement around the Village Tie Up from 8:30am until 6pm.

Contrary to rumors circulating over social media... we did not have a 1.5 million dollar lottery winner.

The true story... we are humbled, as should be all of us who call Harrison home, to have been identified as an ideal site for a television advertisement/marketing campaign promoting the 40th Anniversary of Tri-State Megabucks which will air later this Summer/Fall. We were inundated yesterday with a very professional "team" of more than 40 crew and cast who spent the entire day at the Tie Up (street side and on the boat dock) filming what we know will be a thrill for all who know and love the Tie Up and our beautiful town of Harrison.

A special thanks to Lisa and Matt and the rest of the team at Big Brick Productions who saw what we see every single day in Harrison and realized this was THE town/location.

We all tend to lose sight of how precious our area is. Everyone who lives in Harrison should feel great about knowing their hometown will be featured to many others throughout the tri-sate area (Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire) who don't have the luxury of calling Harrison "home".

While it may have been disruptive for a few hours, just as it was for our day-to-day business, we should all feel good about the fact our town/area was recognized for what it truly is... a gem.

Thanks to all who may have been impacted in even the slightest of ways. Thanks to our wonderful staff at the Harrison General Store, Long Lake Creamery and Village Tie Up who continue to step-up whenever asked, just as they did yesterday.

We look forward to seeing the advertisement just as much as everyone else in coming months. Until then, disregard those back to school television advertisements and lets keep summer rolling!

Well done H-Town.

Anchors Up.

We would like to take this time to invite all of our loyal customers and friends of the Tie Up, Harrison General Store and Long Lake Creamery to join us in supporting a Harrison fixture, historian and legend within his own right, Achille Belanger ("Archie").

As many know, Archie lost his home on Main Street, including everything he owns, due to a house fire on Thanksgiving while he was in the hospital. While any loss is awful, Archie's family has owned this home for many, many years which only adds to the heartbreak. With no insurance, Archie finds himself starting over with not much more than the support of his friends, family and good attitude.

For those who don't personally know Archie... he would do anything he could, whenever he could, for a fellow Harrison resident in a time of need. Now is "his" time and we're inviting anyone that would like to assist Archie as he rebuilds his life, to do so either via the GoFundMe link (see information attached) or locally.

For those who are local, we have been asked by the family to accept/collect monetary donations on his behalf at the Village Tie Up where we will deposit into Archie's account at Northeast Bank.

We wish all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025 and thank all for your support of Archie in his time of need.

As our very loyal and much appreciated customers, friends and family know, we don’t post much on social media or have a large media presence in that regard. Right or wrong, we don’t spend much time on these areas as we focus so much time in our business face-to-face with those who matter so much.

Today on the other hand, we felt it was appropriate.

We woke up this morning like any typical Monday… get ready for another fun-filled day full of challenges and chuckles at the Village Tie Up and Harrison General Store. We ultimately, realized it was September 29th.

The significance? On this day a mere 15 years ago, our family purchased the Village Tie Up and started this incredible adventure. Today, we celebrate that 15 years and are thankful for so many things.

We are thankful for the many friends we’ve made in this beautiful small town. Harrison is filled with many great people who would give you the shirt off their back in times of need. We are proud to own a business in a small town with great people that we believe in.

We are thankful for some of the most dedicated and incredible employees that any business could ever have hoped for as we routinely make mention that our employees smiling faces and effort are what have made and continue to make the Village Tie Up what it is. It’s hard to imagine that some of our employees were not even born when we bought this business while others met here as co-workers and just recently married. No... we do not take credit for match-making in that regard.

We are thankful for our family members that sacrifice so much, knowing that the vast majority of the time the only chance they have of spending time with us is to either visit us at one of our businesses, or even better yet… to work alongside us.

We are truly thankful for our kids Colby, Jackson and Emma who have sacrificed more than most realize, including us. Our kids not only grew up at the Tie Up, they worked nearly every day since we started this adventure giving up precious family time. Furthermore, any down time was inevitably spent listening to their parents talking about the challenges and stories of the Village Tie Up, Harrison General Store or the Long Lake Creamery. Small business is hard as most will attest to and a family owned business is just that... family.

Last but not least and most importantly, we thank our loyal customers of the Village Tie Up, Harrison General Store and Long Lake Creamery who are the lifeblood of this small, humble, fixture of Harrison. We have always maintained that we are merely caretakers for what is considered to be the “Hub of Harrison”. The Village Tie Up was here long before us and will hopefully be here long after our time. The fact that this business has continued to succeed and thrive through various owners is a testament to the local and seasonal customers that consider this “home” just as we do.

We thank you all and we celebrate 15 years with you. We only wish this day hadn’t snuck up on us as it did!

Are we done? Not by a long shot. While the struggles can be real as anyone in small business recognizes… the reality is we have no regrets and look forward with great excitement for what is to come. To that end, we can only say… “stay tuned”.

Once again, we are humbled by your support of this small business and offer a sincere thank you from all of our family.

Cheers.
