Since the repeal of prohibition, Mt.

Carmel Wine & Spirits Co. has been a source for rare wines, as well as specialty wines where worth exceeds price. Value has always been our first priority. We go out of our way — often to Europe — to find the best wines of their type for the money. Much of what we find may have not been reviewed in major wine publications simply because the production was so limited that samples weren’t submitted.

These journals always review an innumerable amount of very good wines, many of which we carry, often at prices lower than published. We’ve always prided ourselves on unearthing wines from the same regions, but that offer far more substance for the dollar. The bulk of our exclusives are imported directly from France. We are then able to pass-on a savings to the consumer that is often in excess of 30% off when compared to the prices of other wines of similar quality. The emphasis in the rare wine department is Bordeaux, red and white Burgundy, Rhone, and Port. The inventory includes hard-to-find older vintages. Our goal has always been to provide mature wines, as well as recent vintages suited for cellaring. The bulk of our selection consists of reasonably priced wines from around the world. All of our wines are individually chosen by tasting, whether it be in-house or at the vineyard source. We take pride in the loyalty our patrons have shown to us over the decades. Our staff of wine professionals has rewarded our customers’ confidence with outstanding wine selections.
