While we love offering coffee and provisions (and soon music;), the heart of Bluestem Hollow will always be our regenerative farming practices. We’re proud to be one of the few farms in the country that composts offal, returning nutrients to the soil and honoring the full cycle of the farm. We started composting offal and scraps from our harvest facility in 2025 to push our zero waste initiative. Offal composting allows us to re-introduce high levels of nitrogen back into the soil and alleviates us from having to send animal byproducts into commerce.

We tried something new, and while it didn’t work out quite the way we’d hoped, being in this business for a long time has taught us that pivoting is simply part of the process. As much as we love our new space, we’ve realized the Kitchen may be best suited for meetings, showers, private parties, and other special gatherings. With that in mind, the Kitchen will be closed for regular weekday service starting Monday, August 31st.

The good news is, the Kitchen will still be open every Saturday from 10-4 serving up your farm favorites. We’re also expanding our grab-and-go offerings at the Meetinghouse with new items we think you’ll love.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we make this shift. If you have a special occasion coming up and think a gathering space set on the farm might be just right, please reach out! We’d love to share the details! With gratitude, The Bluestem Hollow Team

We are thrilled to announce a new series of live music hosted at the farm. Let us introduce to you bluestemsessions! These events are our treat, so bring a chair and enjoy!

Featuring some of the most talented local singers, songwriters, and musicians, Bluestem Sessions is honored to bring the music of East TN into the natural beauty of the foothills we call home.

Beginning every second and fourth Thursday starting September 10th, Bluestem Sessions is created in collaboration with . Cruz, the founder and frontman of the Black Lillies, and cofounder of Robinella and the CCstringband, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer that has graced the stage in East TN for more than 20 years.  

Cruz will be working alongside us to curate fine regional music, and Bluestem will provide great local foods set in the pastoral beauty of the farm, every other Thursday this Fall. Music growing with the farm and the community seemed like a natural fit and we can’t wait to create special memories with you! Our new page bluestemsessions will be the spot to find out all the information for upcoming shows. Follow along to be a part of the fun! September line-up will be up shortly;)
