Rodney Brown saw a young girl climbing out of the debris after a natural gas explosion at an Oak Cliff apartment complex Thursday, he got her out and into the hands of Dallas firefighters who rushed her to the hospital

He says she told him her mother and brother were still inside, three people were killed in the blast, including a child, and several more were hurt

Brown says his only thought was to save her

NEW details on the Cybertruck that ended up partially submerged in Grapevine Lake Monday night 👀🌊

The driver has now been identified as Jimmy Jack McDaniel. According to police, McDaniel told officers he intentionally drove the Tesla Cybertruck into the water at Katie’s Woods Park Boat Ramp to test the vehicle’s “Wade Mode” feature.

NBC 5 later spoke with McDaniel, who said he’s driven the truck through water multiple times before without issues…including in the Atlantic Ocean.

Police say the Cybertruck eventually became disabled in the lake and started taking on water before McDaniel and the passengers got out safely.

Grapevine Fire’s Water Rescue Team later helped remove the truck from the lake.

McDaniel was arrested and charged with:
🚔 Operating a vehicle in a closed section of a park or lake
🚔 No valid boat registration
🚔 Numerous water safety equipment violations

Tesla says the Cybertruck’s Wade Mode is designed for shallow water crossings, but the company also warns drivers about the dangers of deep water and unsafe conditions.

YES THIS IS REAL AND YES Grapevine Police are warning drivers!

This was the scene yesterday at Grapevine Lake were officers were dispatched to Katie’s Woods Park Boat Ramp, where a Tesla Cybertruck was in the water, near the shoreline.

Per police, “The driver stated he intentionally drove into the lake to use the Cybertruck’s “Wade Mode” feature. The vehicle became disabled and took on water. The driver and passengers abandoned the vehicle and the Grapevine Fire Department Water Rescue Team assisted in removing it from the lake. The driver was arrested on charges of Operation of Vehicle in Closed Section of Park/Lake and numerous water safety equipment violations.”

And now comes the warning from police for drivers without a brain -

“We want to remind drivers that although a vehicle may be physically capable of entering shallow freshwater areas, doing so can create legal and safety concerns under Texas law.”
