There has been some customers asking about the pending new tariffs on European wines , I can't explain it any better than a news article but I have some reason to believe when it all shakes out the % of the tariff will not be quite as high as proposed.
The suppliers and wholesalers in most cases likely have months of inventory already stateside so any direct price increases are a few months down the road. I know some people with money will be stocking up at fine wine shops as we deal with this period of uncertainty . We of course would be happy to take any orders if the desire is there but I wouldn't side on a conclusion of permanent massive price increases. It's no secret that globally wine consumption is down as older generations slow down the younger folks are not picking up a wine habit. Across the world we've seen an excess of wine going un purchased , which has started an actual decrease in prices with a plenty of exceptions of course (champagne & burgundy for sure have continued to rise).
It's an interesting time in the business, trends are always shifting and sometimes quickly , but we will do are best to keep an eye on it!- Greg Brick Jr
