With all of the changes in our life lately, the shop will now have limited hours as we approach our closing at the end of the year. Everything must go in the meantime!

We will be closed Sundays - Tuesdays. I will be there after I get off work at 2:30 until 6 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We will also be open for the full day from 10-6 every Saturday. I hope to see as many of you as possible as I close this chapter. Please stop in when you can or message Up In Smoke, Inc. for any questions regarding product availability or operating hours. We are still ordering your favorite products until our last day so do not hesitate to stop by or reach out!

So as many of you know, life has been throwing me tons of curve balls lately. My wife has been very open with her experiences lately so I will do the same with you all. Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. After tons of appointments, careful consideration, and planning, she decided to undergo a bilateral mastectomy this past week. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her. She will then have to undergo another procedure for her reconstruction which will also require its own road to recovery.

This has opened up my eyes when it comes to thinking about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I have had this store for over 10 years. It’s been the greatest experience of my life. It has taken me to heights I never expected and provided for me in ways I never imagined. Traveling to trade shows across this country, visiting places I never imagined. Acquiring things I never imagined and definitely never deserved. It has been physically and internally fulfilling in so many ways. From helping people with their ailments to selling “cool things.” I have enjoyed it immensely. However I believe it’s time for a change.

I started a new job back in April which thankfully has provided my family with the insurance needed to get us through what we’re currently dealing with. It has also given me something I’ve always been unable to obtain. Time at home with my family.

On top of that my industry is under fire. Products are being outlawed left and right, sourcing products has become harder than ever, and the competition is harder than ever. I remember when I was the only store in town and now they are on every corner. I refuse to sell products that don’t align with my moral compass and they make up a large portion of what is sold in stores like mine today.

I have a found a great friend to run my store and he is now facing changes in his life that will soon force him to find a new path as well. He has done great but I cannot pay him enough and provide him with the benefits he deserves and what it takes to make in today’s society. I cannot thank him enough.

All this being considered, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to start working on my next chapter. Unfortunately I don’t believe Up In Smoke, Inc. has a page in this one. I have other projects I would like to focus on both in business but more important in family. We are not ready to close the store yet as I have a tremendous amount of inventory. Things change every day but as of now, I am shooting for the end of the year.

As Chase figures out his next chapter and I continue to work at my new job, our hours may get spotty over the next couple months. He is free to leave whenever he likes and I hope he is able to find something that works for him and I have no hard feelings whatsoever. I want the best for him. I may have to come in and work the shop from 3-7 after I get off every day. We may have to close during the week. I will definitely be here on Saturdays at the very least. I don’t know what the immediate future holds as far as an operational aspect goes so please bear with me guys. As of this exact moment it is business as usual but that is subject to change.

That being said, we will have several items and product lines on sale in the coming weeks starting tomorrow. I myself will be here personally on Friday afternoons and Saturdays so be sure to stop in at those times for the absolute best deals. We will continue to order and stock your favorite products until the end but we need to get rid of several older and less popular products.

Also keep in mind and tell your friends that I will have the building at 105 Columbia Ave and the adjacent empty lot at 115 E Front St for sale or rent when the time comes for my doors to close permanently.

Thank you all for 13 years of tremendous support. I could have never made it this far without you. Tons of you have become family to me and I will never forget what you all have done for me.

I have a gotten a lot of questions today about the “for sale” signs in front of the shop. I would like to clear a few things up and share some news with you guys.

Yes, I have decided to sell the property at 105 Columbia Ave and the adjacent lot at 115 E Front St. This obviously presents questions about the future of the store.

I have ran this business for almost 12 years and have poured my entire life into it. I have received numerous accolades and tightly woven myself into the fabric of this community through the all the work I have done in this community. I am immensely proud of the work I have done, the accomplishments I have made, and the recognition I have gained.

With the current climate of my industry, from everything pertaining to regulations to competition, I have spent tons of time thinking. The H**p industry is on the verge of collapse if things don’t change. The v**e industry has practically already collapsed. A majority of the products in stores like mine are not supposed to be sold. I have complied time and time again with different regulatory agencies which has resulted in a massive hit to my business.

I sit and watch all these new regulations passed in recent years go unenforced while I comply and I have come to the conclusion that I feel I can no longer provide the services most people look for without compromising my morals, or even worse, the law. It is unfortunate but in the world of unsavory business practices, I cannot compete.

I suspect it will take a lengthy amount of time to potentially get these properties sold so in the meantime the shop will 100% remain open and unchanged. If the time comes to sell, I will entertain the idea of staying in the same location for x amount of time while the transfer takes place and possibly remain open after the sale depending on the property buyer and their potential plans. If the universe decides that is not in the cards then I believe that will also be the sign for the shop to say goodbye.

I have had a tremendous run in these 12 years. This business has provided for me in a way I never thought possible. I have seen things, done things, and been places people twice my senior have not done. I met my wife in this shop. All thanks to the loyalty and support of my customers and community.

As the first alternative store in this town, I have fought, cried, and persevered to get to this point just to come second to to places that actively poison our community and our youth and I have grown tired. I firmly believe this is the best option for my family both financially and emotionally. Thank you all and I will keep you informed.

Okay guys so we have some big changes coming up here at the shop! After 12 years of running this place 6 days a week, I have recently excepted a new job opportunity that will allow me to be home more and focus on my family as well as generate stability in my household.

I love this shop and we are not closing. I will be having some help and a couple new faces behind the counter in the coming weeks. I will still be around from time to time in the evenings and on some Saturdays. That being said, getting this place ready for someone else to run will require a few changes. A new POS system, some rearranging, some reorganization, and a review of all the products we carry.

To make room for some new products and to aid in the reorganization, I will be having a SALE on several things starting today stretching over the next couple weeks! Lots of stuff will be marked down, primarily tons of back stock on some “older” h**p products. Now is the time to stock up on those classic favorites as we get ready to focus more on our top sellers and newer products/brands! Some BOGO deals, products up to 60% off, and more!
