We have had a really difficult week and are still in the hospital trying to figure out exactly what is going on with our little guy. He has had persistent high fevers, severe headaches and eye pain, nausea, and has gone several days without being able to eat. His bloodwork is showing a significant inflammatory response, and his MRI found substantial sinus inflammation involving the tissues around his eye with inflammation extending toward an area called the cavernous sinus, which is why the doctors are watching him very closely for complications.

There have been some reassuring things along the way — his spinal fluid came back normal, Ophthalmology isn’t seeing concerning problems with his eyes, and there is no definite blood clot seen on his MRI. But he is still running high fevers, including 104°, and we don’t yet have a complete answer for why his body is fighting so hard.

This morning he also developed a new, painful bump on his head that woke him up crying, so the doctors are evaluating that as well.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing team caring for him and for every person who has checked on us, prayed for us, sent messages, brought things to us, or simply reminded us that we’re not walking through this alone. Thank you. Truly. ❤️

Right now, more than anything, we’re asking everyone who loves our boy to please lift Hunter up in prayer. Pray for healing, wisdom and discernment for every doctor and specialist caring for him, and that they find the answers they need. Pray that his fever stays down, that he can start eating again, and that there are no complications with his PIC line tomorrow.

We may not be able to respond to everyone individually right now, but please know that every message, prayer, and check-in means more to us than you know.

Please keep our boy covered in prayer. 🙏🏻❤️
