Check out the The Jug, fun day

Good news, outdoor lovers! The Jug is officially restored and ready for summer fun, thanks to the hard work of the Division of Natural Resources and the West Virginia Department of Highways environmental engineering team.

You know what that means? It's time to grab your kayak and head Tyler County! The Jug's "handle" is a three and a half mile loop that takes you up stream on the current and brings you right back where you started, meaning NO SHUTTLE NECESSARY!

It’s a must-visit spot for all kayakers and fishermen this summer, and an easy float where you can expect a few easy Class I riffles.

Just a note: while the area offers vehicle access, there is no boat ramp available. This was a deliberate choice to protect the unique and sensitive mussel population in the area.

The water trail conditions we experienced were great, with the Little gage at 3.2 and Middlebourne at 10.8.

For more than 100 years, our little country store has been more than just a store. It has been a special gathering place for our community. Neighbors meet here to catch up, share news, celebrate births, remember those we have lost, get directions and talk about everything from weather and road conditions to when it’s time to mow hay or who had the first tomato. And don’t forget about who got the biggest Buck of the season.

It is a place where childhood memories are made and traditions are passed down. A place to sit for a while, relax and feel like you have stepped back in time & got a warm hug from Grandma. Around here there is never much reason to be in a hurry.

After nine wonderful years, we have decided it is time for us to retire. We are deeply grateful for every conversation, every friendship, and every memory shared within these walls. It’s been an honor to be a part of this wonderful community.

We are happy to pass the store into great hands as Adrianne Melott takes over. We know this special place will continue to bring people together for years to come.
