🚧 Street Closure Notice 🚧

Heads up, Fredericksburg! The City Street Department will close Friendship Lane on Tuesday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

📍 Closure Area: South Creek Street to U.S. 87 South
👷 Reason: Public Works crews will be tying in utilities for the new Racquet Center at 500 Friendship Lane.

Please plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow extra travel time. Emergency access will be maintained.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve City infrastructure!

5/10 6:30P Update: As storms continue to track south and southeast, the storm hazards are expected to be the same as forecasted with the 6:15 NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center update.

-Storms may have 65 - 80 mph gusts
-Hail May be 1.5 to 2.5 inches
-A low end, weak tornado is possible

5/10 5:25P: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Gillespie County until 12 AM. Wind gusts up to 75 mph are possible and hail up to 2 inches. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out, however, the primary concern is damaging straight-line winds.

5/10 8:15A: Severe thunderstorms are possible this evening and tonight. The greatest threat will be damaging wind gusts followed by large hail. As of now, the tornado threat is low.

Storms are expected to move into the area from Sun 6P to Mon 2A. Severe Thunderstorm Watches are possible later this afternoon.

⚡Charge devices, batteries, and check flashlights/lighting
⚡Know how to report an outage to City/CTEC
⚡Avoid outdoor plans or travel during the storm window
⚡Secure outdoor items that could blow away
⚡Cover vehicles and have a plan for incoming hail storms
⚡Sign up for local weather alerts on our emergency system and have 2 other ways to receive warnings (Weather Radio is a great option!)

A FedEx delivery driver was arrested Wednesday after authorities say he sold narcotics from his delivery truck while on his professional route.

Kenneth Ray Hicks III was taken into custody May 6 following a two-month investigation by the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.

Undercover narcotics investigators made several purchases of co***ne, crystal M**A (Molly), and THC from Hicks while he was operating his delivery route.
