October is a wrap, and so are two months of celebrating 50 years on East Mulberry.

It all kicked off on September 10, when David Coors poured his family's Barmen 1873 Bourbon next to an ice-cold Banquet. Old Polaroids came out of the archive. The story of how the shop almost opened as JB Liquors finally got told. Odell and New Belgium brought the party, and plenty of neighbors stopped in to say hello.

Thanks for every memory shared in the comments and every "I've been shopping here since the '80s" along the way.

Fifty years of good spirits. All thanks to you. Here's to the next fifty.

Halloween behind the counter goes back a long way.

These turned up in the shop's photo archive, scanned for the 50th anniversary. Full face paint at the register. A wig worth committing to.

Three events, three great crowds. The New Belgium night filled the parking lot and the Odell tasting kept the shop buzzing inside. Before those two, David Coors kicked off the anniversary on September 10 with a Barmen 1873 Bourbon and Coors Banquet tasting right at the counter.

Fifty years in, the best part of this place is still the people who walk through the door. Neighbors catching up. Strangers swapping b**r recommendations like old friends.

Congrats to the winners who went home with a shiny red bike and a fire pit. And to everyone who stopped by, raised a glass or just said hello, thanks for making it such a good time.

In 1989, Odell Brewing threw its opening party in Fort Collins and poured its very first b**r: 90 Shilling. By then, the shop on East Mulberry had been around for 13 years.

On Friday, October 16, the two Fort Collins originals get together for the Supermarket Liquors 50th.

It almost opened as "JB Liquors." That was Dave Joyce's pick in 1976, for the Joyce Brothers. His brother Steve pitched something else. A name that explained the plan.

Their dad ran grocery stores in Boulder, and the brothers borrowed his playbook. Wide aisles. Numbered signs. A big selection bought by the case to keep prices low. A liquor store that shops like a supermarket.

The archive still has the proof. Swipe through and look up near the ceiling for aisles 12 and 13, hanging over the cold w**e and cold pop.

Fifty years later, the name still tells you exactly what you'll find inside.
