Straus Tobacconist will be closed on Saturday, July 4th, as we pause to celebrate 250 years of American independence and the freedoms we’re grateful to enjoy.

America is unusual in the history of the world: a country founded not merely on bloodline, tribe, or monarchy, but on a creed: that our rights come from God, that liberty is worth defending, and that self-government is both a gift and a responsibility. That is something worth cherishing and keeping, even when we argue about everything else.

Our staff will be observing the holiday in the traditional American fashion: grilling something, relaxing whenever possible, and keeping a respectful distance from anyone who says, “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing” while holding fireworks.

We’ll be back after the holiday and ready to help you restock your humidor like a true patriot.

It’s about time we kicked off 2026 with a cigar pairing event, and this time, you get to pick your poison: Bourbon or Port!

Join Straus Tobacconist as we go to The Grape Vines Wine Bar on FRIDAY MAY 29th from 7-9m for a fun, relaxed, and educational Bourbon, Port & Cigar Pairing Event featuring premium ci**rs, top-shelf pours, expert guidance, live music, and an outdoor patio atmosphere by the bonfire.

During this pairing event, you’ll learn about and enjoy 2 different ci**rs paired with 3 different bourbons or ports, and why each selection works so well together.

Straus Tobacconist owner Jim Clark will share the story behind his cigar selections, explain what makes each one unique, and offer tips for pairing ci**rs with bourbon, spirits, or port. Extra ci**rs and additional selections will also be available for purchase.

The Grape Vines Manager & Sommelier Hannah will be discussing the bourbon and port pairings selected for the evening. Bourbon selections will include two Short Barrel offerings from Old Fourth Distillery, along with Bower Hill Sherry Cask Finish Bourbon. Port selections from Quinta do Noval will include a tawny and a late bottled vintage port.

Several bourbon selections are extremely limited, including one that is no longer being produced. A limited number of bourbon bottles will be available for purchase while supplies last.

Selected ports will also be available by the bottle or in 200ml bottles, perfect for Father’s Day gifts!

This event will be held outside on one of our patios, with the bonfire lit and live music for the evening. It’s going to be a lovely night of ci**rs, bourbon, port, music, and great company.

Straus Tobacconist is excited to announce that two rare Limited Cigar Association releases will be available Friday, April 3rd!

We have a small amount of these, and expect them to sell out quickly.

First up is the LCA Year of Ed, a 6 x 54 box-pressed Toro aged for 2 years. Wrapped in Jalapa Habano with Salvadoran binder and Estelí and Condega fillers from Tabacalera Annex, this one delivers everything people love about well-aged Nicaraguan to***co. Expect rich cocoa, toasted hazelnut, caramel, marzipan, baking spice, espresso, leather, and a long chocolatey finish. Smooth, layered, and deeply satisfying.

Also arriving is the LCA+ Cavalier Genève Paca, a 6 x 50 Toro aged for 3 years. This special release comes out of FCT in Honduras and features Habano wrapper, Connecticut binder, and Nicaraguan and Peruvian fillers. With notes of honeyed to***co, graham cracker, lemon peel, dried cherry, almond, espresso, molasses, dark cocoa, and cedar, this is a rare cigar with real story and provenance behind it. A beautiful, mature smoke that collectors and Cavalier fans will want to get their hands on.

If these sound like your kind of ci**rs, do not wait. Quantities are extremely limited, and once they are gone, they are gone.

Fresh LCA drop Tomorrow Friday February 6th, and this one’s for the folks who actually care how a cigar is built.

LCA: Super Sea Monkeys 2026 (6 x 54)

La Sirena name, but built by Privada in collaboration with Raul Lanuza, the “Young Prince of Ci**rs.” The headline here is the wrapper: a Cameroon Negro grown in Nicaragua and pushed through a fermentation process that takes Cameroon into ultra-maduro territory. Darker, richer, sweeter, and way more complex than what most people expect from “Cameroon.”

What you’ll taste: stone fruit and caramel, with a smooth, structured finish from the Condega binder and Peruvian + Estelí fillers.

LCA+: 1-2-3 Culebra (Three 6 x 46 strands)

This is the one you’re going to talk about. A tri-color culebra that separates the cigar into wrapper, binder, and filler, then braids them back together. Smoke the strands separately or together and you’ll literally taste the anatomy of the cigar in real time.
• Dark strand: ultra-fermented Cameroon Negro (rich and deep)
• Medium strand: Condega binder (balance and structure)
• Light strand: Peruvian wrapper (brightens and spotlights the filler)

It’s bigger than a traditional culebra so each strand actually performs, and it took six months to pull off. Also aged a year.

If you want to try something truly different, don’t “catch it next time.” LCA and LCA+ don’t work like that. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
