Update to previous post about gas tax re-instatement.

Governor Mike Braun announced today that he is declaring a new statewide energy emergency, allowing Indiana to continue suspending the state's Gasoline Usage Tax and Gasoline Excise Tax through September 5. The emergency declaration follows continued global energy supply disruptions, including escalating conflict affecting Black Sea shipping lanes and Canadian wildfires impacting oil production. The new declaration takes effect August 7, immediately after the current emergency order expires.

On April 8th of this year Governor Braun ordered the suspension of Indiana’s 7% gasoline usage tax. On May 6th the Governor also ordered the suspension of the gasoline excise tax $.36. These suspensions are set to expire tomorrow August 6th. The result is a potential increase of $.59 per gallon.
