I’ll say this as plainly as I can: Sinistro is the most underrated cigar manufacturer in the industry. And I’m on a mission to change that.

If you’re looking at ci**rs under $15, I don’t believe anyone is making them better right now. James Razmig Agopian and ColemanFine Solomon Cappeta have figured out how to create rich, memorable ci**rs without attaching a ridiculous price tag to them. The way they use Dominican to***co is unlike what I’m tasting from anyone else. They bring out a depth, strength and complexity that completely changes what many people expect from Dominican ci**rs.

The Honor Among Thieves Toro is a perfect example.

This cigar isn’t a new release. It has been around for several years, but far too few people have taken the opportunity to try it. That’s exactly why I wanted to include it in this month’s A Story to Tell cigar club.

It features a Brazilian Cubra Maduro wrapper over a stacked filler blend that includes Nicaraguan, Dominican and Pennsylvania to***cos, with several different ligeros doing the heavy lifting. The to***cos were aged for six years before blending, and you can taste that maturity in the way all that strength comes together without becoming harsh.

It’s a full-bodied cigar with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, nuts, cream, black pepper, cedar and baking spices. As it develops, I also find brown sugar, cinnamon, malt and graham cracker sweetness underneath the darker flavors. It’s powerful, but there is balance to it. The sweeter notes keep answering the earth, pepper and strength, which makes the cigar far more interesting than something that simply tries to overpower you.

One independent reviewer gave it a 96 and said it would be difficult to find another cigar this special at its price. That review was written years ago, and I still don’t think enough people have discovered what Sinistro accomplished with this blend.
My appreciation for Sinistro goes beyond the ci**rs, too.

James and Coleman are two of my favorite people in this industry. Every time I see them at the PCA convention, it feels like getting to spend time with your favorite friends. There is no forced sales pitch and no feeling that you are only valuable because you might place an order. We talk, laugh, catch up and enjoy being around one another.

That matters to me. I want the ci**rs I share with you to come from people and companies I’m proud to support.

The Honor Among Thieves may have been hiding in plain sight for a while, but it deserves a place in far more humidors. My goal with A Story to Tell isn’t to chase only the newest cigar on the shelf. It’s to find the ci**rs you may have missed and make sure you finally get the opportunity to experience them.

Thank you to everyone who has joined the club and allowed me to share these discoveries with you. Some months will introduce you to brands you’ve never smoked. Other months will include limited releases, aged ci**rs or something I’ve personally loved for years.

This month, you get all of that in one box, and the Sinistro Honor Among Thieves is a big reason why.

One of the reasons I created A Story to Tell was to give people a reason to smoke outside their normal comfort zone.

The Oz Family Ci**rs Maracanã is a perfect example.

This was the first cigar I had come across featuring a Brazilian wrapper, and that immediately got my attention. It uses a dark Brazilian Arapiraca leaf over two binders, one Honduran and one Nicaraguan, with fillers from both countries.

What made it even more interesting to me was where it was being made.

I have loved everything coming out of the My Father Ci**rs Honduras factory. The Garcia family has been producing some incredible ci**rs there, so when I learned this was their first time working with a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper, I wanted to see what they would create with it.

The answer is something completely different from anything else in this month’s box.

The MaracanĆ£ is medium to full-bodied with a deep, earthy sweetness running through it. I get dark cocoa, espresso, leather, oak, roasted nuts, black pepper and baking spice, along with some fig, caramel and natural sweetness that help balance the darker flavors. It has plenty of strength and personality, but it isn’t just heavy for the sake of being heavy. There is a lot to explore as it develops.

The timing of this cigar also made it a fun selection.

Tim Ozgener has loved soccer since childhood, and he created Maracanã as a tribute to the 2026 World Cup. It takes its name from the legendary Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, one of the most famous places in the history of the sport.

Having six World Cup matches hosted right here in my backyard of Seattle this summer made the theme feel even more relevant. For a few weeks, the entire city had that World Cup energy, and this cigar felt like the right one to enjoy while it was all happening.

I also know this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The Brazilian wrapper brings a character that may be unfamiliar if you usually stay with Nicaraguan, Honduran or Connecticut to***co.

But that is the beauty of a cigar club.

You get the chance to try something you may never have selected for yourself. Sometimes it becomes a new favorite. Sometimes it simply teaches you something about your palate. Either way, you walk away having experienced something new, and that is exactly what I want this club to provide.

Thank you to everyone who has joined A Story to Tell and given me the freedom to put selections like this in your box. You’ll discover new brands, but you’ll also receive limited releases, properly aged ci**rs and plenty of the personal favorites I keep coming back to.

Not every cigar needs to taste familiar. Sometimes the most interesting selections are the ones that make you pay attention.

The Mean Jean is more than a cigar I enjoy. Including it in this month’s A Story to Tell box is personal for me.

I’ve known Lou Cross for about ten years. He was one of the first people I met when I started joining cigar groups on Facebook, long before Lure Ci**rs existed. Over all that time, I’ve known Lou to be a man of excellence and wisdom. He values good friendship and good conversations, he pays attention, and he never makes you feel like you’re just another name in a long line…a vibe I get from a lot of other cigar manufacturers.

Lou makes you feel like family.

When he created Lure Ci**rs, I got to see those same qualities come to life in a brand. Lure began as a tribute to his late father and the time they shared fishing and smoking ci**rs together. Even the name is personal. It plays on the Cross name, and most of the ci**rs are named after members of Lou’s family. Mean Jean was named after his wife, Jeanne.

That tells you a lot about who Lou is. Nothing about Lure feels manufactured in a conference room. Every blend, name, band and package has a reason behind it. He works through every detail until it meets the standard he has set for himself.
The Mean Jean shows exactly what that kind of care produces.

This is a full-flavored box-pressed Toro built around a Habano 2000 wrapper, an Ometepe binder and a powerful blend of Nicaraguan fillers, including Ometepe ligero. It brings plenty of strength, but what impressed me most is how much balance and movement Lou built into it.

I get dark chocolate, roasted and salted nuts, baking spices, dark coffee, leather and wood, with flashes of citrus, sweet cream, graham cracker and a pepper finish that keeps the cigar alive. It starts bold, continues changing and never drifts into that forgettable middle section some ci**rs have. There is always another flavor waiting to show itself.

That is why I love Mean Jean, and why I wanted it in this month’s club. It gives members the opportunity to discover a newer boutique brand, but it also lets me introduce you to someone I have respected for years. Knowing the person behind a cigar changes the experience, especially when that person has poured this much of himself and his family into creating it.

Thank you to everyone who has joined A Story to Tell and continues to trust my selections each month. My goal is not just to send you five ci**rs. I want this club to introduce you to new brands and the people behind them, while also bringing you limited releases, aged ci**rs and a lot of the personal favorites I believe are worth sharing.

The Mean Jean checks every one of those boxes, but the story behind it is what makes this selection special to me.
