We’re having a party. We think we deserve one. We think you do too. It’ll just be us, five of our favorite winemakers pouring their wines, some yummy nibbles, and - if, y’know, self care is your thing - you. All to celebrate the fact that we made it through our first year in this wine-focused space that’s now been around for 26 of them. $29 to taste 15 amazing wines poured by the winemakers themselves and nosh on some tasty bites? Yeah, sure sounds like a party.

FRIDAY TASTING | 2/3 | 4-7pm | Heiwa Shuzo sake w/ Brian West of Fifth Taste | deets below and more at ✌🏼

Don't tell any winemakers, but once upon a time - not all that long ago, really - we would've called sake our desert island drink. Sometime since dethroned - the only question now being 'Champagne or Burgundy?' - we still have the softest spot in our hearts for the kaleidoscope of delicate, crystalline flavors and textures that sake offers. Problem is, we don't know a whole lot about it. Pretty convenient that there's a small cadre of super talented sake pros here in Portland, right? Bryan West of Fifth Taste - a San Francisco-based sake importer - is certainly one of them, and he'll be joining us at the shop this Friday night, 4-7pm, to pour a selection of bottles from Heiwa Shuzo, one of the brightest rising stars in the world of sake. $16 to taste four bottles that tell a compelling story - whether this is your first experience with sake or you consider yourself a seasoned pro. More details on what we’re pouring and why this brewery is so special at the link in our bio.

If you know and love Oregon Pinot and Chardonnay, you know the wines of Cameron. Founded in 1984 by former Marine Biochemist-turned-vigeron, John Paul, the label is revered for its transparent, terroir-driven wines, chief among them being the single vineyard bottlings from Clos Electrique and Abbey Ridge. This Friday, January 27th, we're doing something quite different and very special: John Paul will be in-house, pouring both the current release of Clos Electrique Blanc and Abbey Ridge Pinot noir as well a seven-year vertical of each wine. This will be a ticketed and seated tasting - a rare opportunity to not only taste and purchase from the Cameron library, but to sit down with one of the foremost figures in Oregon wine, the man behind the label that helped forge the conception of what Oregon Wine means.

👋🏻 Hi, hello! We have some reflections on the past year, and visions for the year ahead. Read on, if you’re into that sort of thing 🫶🏻.

Speaking as parents, wine drinkers, and retailers, the first few weeks of January are some of our favorite of the year. The madness is - well - if not entirely over, at least dulled a bit. The kids are back in school, the horizon is party-free, and there’s an airy lightness to be found in the freedom from hectic schedules and demanding days. Maybe you’re like us and you dread the noise - its bright metallic edge - creeping back in, that sweet, soft silence giving way to the ceaseless cycle of busy and hustle. Real quick and just for a moment, do you mind if we reflect? Seems, before it all goes crazy again, like an appropriate time.

Thanks for that. See, from where we stand, it’s been a pretty good year. We bought this wine shop to get closer to wine. It’s the thing that buoys us, knits us more tightly to our friends, to the place we come from, to the world at large. What we didn’t expect - at least not to the degree we’ve found it - is the deeper connections we’ve made with the community that surrounds Mt. Tabor Wines, that animates it and forms its foundation. This year would’ve been a complete failure without that support; thank you so much.
