Wine Spotlight:

Winter weather is officially here and we're all looking for ways to warm up! Borne of Fire Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a deliciously bold wine that will pair with any hot, spicy meat dish you want to pull out of the oven.

This rugged, yet elegant wine leads with herbal expressive aromas laced with pomegranate and stony minerals. Upon tasting the wine, powdery tannins frame flavors of cherry, currant, savory spice, and red pepper. A green coffee inflected finish rounds out the overall experience.

Wine Spotlight:

We're keeping it Mitten Made this week and taking a look at Chateau Grand Traverse Whole Cluster Riesling. Nestled on Old Mission Peninsula, between the East and West Arms of Grand Traverse Bay lies Chateau Grand Traverse winery. Amongst their many delightful offerings this just off-dry Riesling stands out as a perfect option for an unseasonably warm October day!

Crisp aromatics, bright tropical fruit and lemony citrus are accented with luscious flavors of ripe apple and pear. Produced from top quality, hand-picked Riesling grapes whole clusters were pressed without any destemming or crushing. The resulting wine is sleek and steely with just a hint of natural sweetness for balance.

Wine Spotlight:

This week we're going to California to take a look Dry Creek Vineyard's Chenin Blanc. Chenin Blanc is a criminally underrated wine varietal that is closely related to the more popularly known Sauvignon Blanc.

Having been fermented in 100% stainless steel, this beautiful wine is wonderfully bright and
consistent vintage after vintage. At first swirl, aromatics of honeydew, white peach
and jasmine spring forward from the glass, followed with time by citrus blossom,
watermelon rind and pineapple. On the palate, the wine has refreshing flavors of
peach, grapefruit and jasmine with hints of mandarin, cucumber and lemon curd.
The mouthfeel is soft yet inviting, with a lively acidity. This classic, Loire Valley-style
wine is excellent when paired with fresh oysters, seafood or just about anything.

Wine Spotlight:

We're going to stick with our exploration of the wines of coastal Tuscany and take a look at the silky, slightly off dry, belly warming Rosso from Sella Antica...

Sella Antica is a smooth, full-bodied red blend. This deep ruby-colored wine offers voluptuous scents of ripe blueberries and blackberries, cooked plums, and spicy notes of black pepper. It continues with hints of vanilla, cocoa, and dried herbs. On the palate, it is dynamic. Rich and fresh at the same time, with bright fruit flavors, soft tannins, and a lingering taste of blackberry, cherry, and chocolate.

Food Pairings: It is excellent with grilled and roasted meats, even in summer, as the velvety tannins allow it to be served at a cooler temperature. It is also delicious with many international cuisines, such as spicy Asian or South American platters.
