Two Kratom bills are under review in Iowa:
1. Senate File 367 (SF 367) - Aims to ban Kratom by classifying it as a Schedule 1 substance. Subcommittee meeting: March 3, 2025, 3:30 PM, Senate Lounge.
2. House File 612 (HF 612) - Proposes regulation via the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA), ensuring safety and labeling standards. Subcommittee meeting: March 4, 2025, 8:30 AM, Room 19.

Kratom is legal in Iowa now. SF 367 would criminalize it; HF 612 would help regulate it.
The American Kratom Association opposes the ban, supports regulation. Outcomes depend on subcommittee votes this week.
Contact your representatives to oppose SF 367, and support HF 612. NO on 1 & Yes on 2.

Iowa has two kratom related bills. One is a Senate bill that bans kratom, and the other is a Kratom Consumer Protection Act in the House which the AKA supports.

Ban Bill: Iowa General Assembly IA S.F. 367 A bill for an act designating kratom as a schedule I controlled substance, and making penalties applicable. The Senate Ban Bill will have a Hearing on Monday March 3rd, Subcommittee Meeting: 03/03/2025 3:30PM Senate Lounge.

KCPA: Iowa General Assembly IA H.F. 612 A bill for an act relating to the regulation of kratom, and making penalties applicable. House KCPA will have a Hearing Tuesday March 4th- Subcommittee Meeting: 03/04/2025 8:30AM RM 19
Tell Iowa representatives to support appropriate regulation and not criminalization.
