Four years ago today I drove into Del Norte, and put eyes on for the first time. And the rest is history, as they say!

Follow along as I share the journey of buying an old motel in a small rural town in southern Colorado and transforming it into a boutique destination complete with designer amenities, an on-site coffee shop and bake house, and a lifestyle shop instead of a lobby.

About a year ago, we started dreaming up a “Town Map” with .studio — a way to help our guests actually experience Del Norte, not just pass through.

The goal was simple: help folks orient themselves after checking in / arriving in our small town, to highlight local businesses, and to make it easy to explore nature and our community within steps of the Moon.

After building out a current business directory, triple-checking every detail, designing color-coded zones, and figuring out how to make a fully produced map editable (the biz tiles can be swapped in and out as businesses grow👏), it’s finally here.

Our large-scale Del Norte Small Biz Map is going up next to the front lobby / entrance, and I am so dang proud of this one. It feels like a true amenity — for both our guests and our town.

Huge shoutout to for helping support this project with a micro grant at the end of last year! 🤍
