From one of the most important properties of the cooler Canalicchio zone of Montalcino in southern Tuscany, La Gerla was part of the original Biondi-Santi estate and shares a parking lot (and terroir) with better-known (and way more expensive) Canalicchio di Sopra. Always one of the better under-the-radar offerings, La Gerla’s w**es are made in an old-school style that emphasizes complexity with plenty of forest floor and to***co notes to go along with a solid armature that promises a very long life.

Join us as Alberto Passeri, the man in charge of the La Gerla vineyards and w**ery, will let us sample not only the w**ery’s amazing 2021 Brunellos, but also their Rosso di Montalcino and barrique-aged Birba.

Dreaming of Italy? We get it.

Come join us at The Cheese Parlor in Livermore on Wednesday, October 21st from 7-9pm, for our third annual cheese and w**e collab with cheesemonger extraordinaire Brandon Wood.

Fran, Brandon & Tadd are diving deep into Italian coastal w**es and the cheeses that go best with them. Learn how saltiness affects w**e, and what techniques w**emakers can use to enhance or hide sapidity. Think Vermentino from Sardinia, Verdeca from Puglia, and perhaps even the ultra rare but oh so special Vitovska grape variety from Friuli!

Prima Vini is ! 🍷✨

Mayor Newell Arnerich stopped by to officially welcome Brandon and John and celebrate Prima Vini’s new home in downtown Danville.

Originally known as Walnut Creek W**e & Cheese, a trip to Italy inspired a new vision that transformed the business into Prima Vini W**e Merchants, expanding from a neighborhood w**e shop into a destination featuring curated retail, a w**e bar, and w**e clubs.

Following the pandemic and the closure of their restaurant, Brandon and John relocated to Dublin, where they spent nearly five years. But with so many loyal customers in the Danville area, they knew they wanted to return closer to their roots. When the opportunity to open in Danville came along, it felt like the perfect fit. As John shared, "This is the store I always wanted."

Prima Vini is passionate about supporting small, organically grown, family-owned w**eries, many of whom they've built lasting relationships with over the years. Whether you're exploring one of their two w**e clubs, looking for a special bottle, or discovering a new favorite, the team is ready to share their knowledge and passion for great w**e.

Brandon and John also shared how much they appreciated working with the Town throughout the process and are excited to once again serve the Danville community.
