Never been to an event with music from our own DJ Freeze that was not off the freakin' chain. He has an upcoming gig in Houston, a day party on Saturday, April 2 at Lincoln Bar, 5110 Washington Abe, Houston. 2p to 8p. Who's in? I may head down Friday midday, hit Stogies, then refresh for the main event.

As an aside, I really knew little about DJs until I met several talents in Dallas at City. From the first time he off-the-cuff DJ'd a store party to the other events I've heard him, Freeze's ear for the music that the moment needs is second to none. Can you say "road trip?" I know that you can.

Mark your calendar! DJ Freeze has a gig the weekend of April 1, most likely April 2 - in Houston. Can you think of a better reason for a road trip? I will be coordinating a group hotel, likely heading down April 1 (Friday) and returning to DFW on Sunday, April 3. We want to let everyone know that the post-holiday lull is officially O-V-E-R. We've recently repaired the rain damaged ceiling, and the floor repair will be finished this week. We'll have boxes upon boxes restocking over the coming week, and a "somewhat before spring" cleaning is scheduled this week. Apologies for the off-peak nature of the past few weeks, but things are picking up soon. We appreciate your presence and your business, and look forward to seeing you all at City Ci**rs!

With a whirlwind of activity up to and through the Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa holidays, it was hard to catch a breath. I am sure many of you can relate. We at City Ci**rs did not want to let too much time pass, though, before we wished every one of our dear customers and friends the very best. As the days get colder and the weather turns, please do what you can to support those less fortunate, and in particular, the people so brutally impacted by high winds and tornadoes last weekend in Rowlett and surrounding areas. Perhaps you are beginning with quiet reflection. Perhaps it's a chance to sleep in. I mean, really in. You my have awakened to the sound of visitors, or perhaps you are the visitors. Maybe you're the cook, maybe you're the cleaner. Perhaps you've perfected your dexterity to slide away from the table just after dinner and just before clean-up! Regardless of your circumstance, we sincerely hope you are enjoying this most wonderful holiday. It is my favorite, and I plan on savoring - literally and figuratively - every minute.

All - I want to take a moment to update you on the city ordinance on smoking from our fair city of Dallas. In summary, it prohibits smoking within 15 feet of the entrance of a public place such as a retailer. Even though we are a cigar shop, we are still covered by that ordinance. Further, we cannot allow the sidewalk to be blocked by chairs, etc., as this interferes with others' right of way.

Please do not smoke outdoors in front of our (or any) shop or restaurant. Code enforcement is active, and they can and generally WILL ticket you if you are in violation of this ordinance.

I don't want to be the bearer of this, but it is the law, and as good neighbors we need to pay heed. I appreciate your help and cooperation. Enjoy the weekend, and see you soon at City Ci**rs!

Chocolate Martini. Perhaps it is not the first drink one considers when deciding their summer beverage of choice. If you have not enjoyed these, I strongly recommend you try one. It was never on my list until I learned a tasty recipe this summer. One word: mmmmmmm. How about Saturday? On July 25, beginning that evening, we will have a delicious batch of chocolate martinis available for the enjoyment of all customers purchasing ci**rs. First come, first served, and when they are gone, they're gone. As always, we look forward to seeing you at City Ci**rs.
