The Rooster’s Cigar

Upon the fence at break of day,
A rooster puffed his cares away.
With feathered pride and eyes ajar,
He lit himself a bold cigar.

The barnyard beasts all stopped to stare,
At smoke that swirled into the air.
"The dawn is mine," he gave a wink,
"And this fine smoke helps me to think."

The farmer laughed, the hens did cluck,
As puffs rolled out with strut and pluck.
A rooster grand, both sharp and wise,
With smoky rings that kissed the skies.
