While resting peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, the Angels of the Lord escorted Betty Tincher to Glory on June 13, 2026. Betty was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 16, 1939, the daughter of Alvin Robinson and Verna Marie Gibson Robinson Smith.
Betty spent her childhood in Jackson County, Kentucky before moving to Indiana in 1954. On January 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to George Robert Tincher in Clover Bottom, Kentucky. They shared 34 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 7, 1988.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty did work outside of the home as a Lunch Aid at Alquina Elementary School for several years. She was a long-time member of Full Gospel Holiness Church and Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Betty was known for the beautiful quilts she made and her embroidery projects. She was very creative and loved to sew, paint oil paintings, or any type of craft. She loved to cook, bake, can and preserve as well. She was always giving to those in need, was welcoming to the neighborhood children, making sure they were fed. She liked to go to yard sales to see if she could find a bargain. Most of all she valued her faith and family above all.
Her love and memories will be cherished by her daughters, Charlene (Daniel) Mays, Clara Rose (Andre) Wines; sons, John (Kay) Tincher, Richard (Vicki) Tincher, Russell (Rebecca) Tincher, Walter (Angie) Tincher, William Tincher, and Robert Tincher; former daughter-in-law, she thought of as a daughter, Anida Foster; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be thought of often by her sisters, Margaret Richardson and Brenda Lee Davis; brothers, William (Cleo) Smith, and Perry Welch, Jr.: stepchildren, Shirley (Bob) Camp and Mina Lou Tincher; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; step-father Curt Smith, whom she thought of as her father; her husband, George Robert; daughter, Verna Ann Hobbs; siblings, Cecil Ray Shepard, Anna Pearl Mitchell, Cathy Smith, and Judy Mae Johnson; step-children, Della Snodgrass, Doris Tincher, Donald Tincher, Hurrell Tincher, Cleo Tincher, Benjamin Tincher and George L. Tincher; and a grandson, Brennan Lee Lykins.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday evening, June 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Full Gospel Holiness Church, 1109 W 10th Street, Connersville, Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Thursday morning, June 18, 2026, at 11:00 am. Betty will be laid to rest at Laurel North Cemetery.
