Today is World Chardonnay Day - and Sunday is the anniversary of the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, aka "the Judgment of Paris,” which put California on the global wine map. In honor, both of our featured Wines of the Week (WOWs) come from California, including a chardonnay from Anderson Valley.
💛 Brick & Mortar Anderson Valley Chardonnay (northern California) - Aromatic in the glass, combining fresh citrus and floral elements. The palate is framed by racy acidity, with a richness of fruit and hints of oak toasted hazelnut and hard spice. Ripe melon, quince and yellow apple flavors are coupled with mandarin zest, juniper and thyme. The wine is textured and elegant exuding the warm sunny growing days and cool temperatures of Anderson Valley.
❤️ Michael Pozzen Winery Napa Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) - Generous aromas of cassis, blackberries, and black cherry, with a hint of malted chocolate on the nose. In the mouth, the wine delivers juicy blackberries, ripe black cherry, black plum, and creamy saddle leather, and a perfume of vanilla and cardamon that lingers throughout the lengthy finish.
FYI: Cellar Door’s featured WOWs are wines we regularly stock on our shelves, so don’t worry if you miss out this week - you can take home a bottle anytime!
