The black bow has remained up this week in memory of Mr. George Daffin. To know him was to love him. He was a consistent customer and we LOVED to see him coming. This video is one I’ve had on my phone since the day (December 4, 2020) he came in that door dancing, which wasn’t unusual for him. At the time of this video, he was 94 years old. He was a hoot! I always joked with him… “Mr. George you may not can hear it thunder, but you sure can spot a woman coming from a mile away!” We always had a good laugh together… mainly because we both knew it was true! 🤣 He loved my grandparents and was really a friend to all of us. He had 99 years on this earth and I can only imagine the “history” he witnessed. I will truly miss this man! He was one of a kind and the Wilkerson’s Food Mart family will miss him so much! 🖤🕊️

Mr. George’s arrangements are as followed:
Visitation - Friday, August 8th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Central Funeral Services in Louisville
Funeral - Saturday, August 9th at 11:00am at Clio First Missionary Baptist Church in Clio

The black ribbon was hung outside of the store in honor of our sweet grandmother, Nany. 🤍

She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Today, we lay to rest a part of our family. While the events of today are just a part of our “process”, we have peace knowing that her “Homecoming” is already final. I cannot imagine how exciting that was for her! She was a servant in every aspect of her life. I just know that the Lord saw her contagious smile coming as He welcomed her with “well done, my good and faithful servant”. I am sure Heaven is a perfect place, but I’d like to think that Heaven’s “flower beds” have gotten a lot more beautiful with her there. She will be so missed here, in this life, but she’s exactly where she wanted to be and where we should all strive to end up. The reunion with “her people” there had to be one for the books!

Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we adjust to our new normal. She was such a bright light in this dark world!

We currently cannot pump premium/marine gas. That means no one can pump premium/marine or plus gas as of now. We have plenty of E10 (87 octane), On Rd diesel, and Off Rd diesel that can be pumped!

We will have premium gas sometime tomorrow morning.

This is why.

This is why my Granny and Pawpaw (Betty and Milton Wilkerson) bought a little service station in a small town in south Alabama in 1959. This is why they ran their business themselves and worked every day to serve their community for over 40 years. This is why my Daddy (Chris Wilkerson) bought “the exxon” in 2004. This is why he dealt with the stress of running a business in a much more fast paced society for almost 20 years. This is why we chose to keep it a “family business” and bought it in 2022. This is why we try our hardest to keep employees with us for years at the time.
Familiarity. Family.

So we may not “look” like that small service station that Granny and Pawpaw opened in 1959, but I hope it always feels like that small service station. I’m thankful that today, Father’s Day, it was the “meeting point” for a grandfather and granddaughter to have breakfast. Making memories that she will cherish more than ever one day.

This is why we love small town USA.
This is why the stressful days are worth it.

66 years (3 generations) of “Wilkerson’s” and I hope there’s many more to come.
