💙 Did you know?

Some ancient traditions associated lapis lazuli with September, long before modern birthstone lists were standardized. (Looking at you Sapphire)

Its deep blue color and golden pyrite flecks made it a prized stone throughout the ancient world—and a fascinating early connection to September’s birthstone tradition.

Have you ever found one of these outside? Maybe on a hike or lining your grandparents driveway or garden… 🤔

These are called Pudding Stones! These can be found all over Michigan! They can also be found in Canada, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and surrounding areas! Glaciers actually carried these famous jasper pudding stones down from Canada, where they originated over 2 BILLION years ago!

After starting this tournament with 64 incredible rocks, minerals, and crystals, there’s officially one champion…

🌌👑 LABRADORITE! 👑🌌

And honestly? Labradorite didn’t just make it through Crystal Madness — it blew past the competition. Matchup after matchup, those legendary flashes of blue, green, gold, and yellow kept the votes rolling in until there was nobody left standing.

Labradorite has a pretty incredible history, too. It was first described in 1770 on Paul’s Island in Labrador, Canada, where Moravian missionaries encountered the striking stone. Its famous flashes, known as labradorescence, come from the way light interacts with microscopic layers within the mineral.

From its discovery on the shores of Labrador to becoming the 2026 Crystal Madness Champion… not a bad run.

🌌 64 entered.
🏆 1 survived.
👑 LABRADORITE IS THE CHAMPION!

Thank you to everyone who voted, debated, defended their favorites, and helped make every round a nail-biter!

Long live the champion.

🪨✨ Meet Chiastolite
aka the “X Marks the Spot” rock!
See those natural X’s? 👀 They’re made by minerals growing inside the stone, no tiny rock artist required. 😂

For centuries, travelers and pilgrims carried chiastolite as a protective talisman, seeing the cross as a symbol of faith and safe journeys.

So basically, it was the medieval version of:
“I’m going on an adventure. Better bring my lucky X rock.” 🧭😂

Nature is weird. History is cool. Rocks have stories. ❤️🪨
