In Chestertown, New York you can take a “Adirondack Fall Foliage” horseback ride with Circle B Ranch, where autumn turns the surrounding forest into a mix of yellow, orange, red, and green. Fall is actually the ranch’s busiest season, thanks to the changing leaves throughout the Adirondacks. The property began as a farm in the 1800s and today sits beside thousands of acres of undeveloped wilderness. Riders can choose the one-hour Beaver Dam Trail, a relaxed trip through forest and marshland where you may spot birds, beavers, deer, and other wildlife. For a longer adventure, the two-hour Mountain & Valley Trail climbs through more varied ground with wide mountain and valley views. A limited Sunset Mountain Ride is also offered on select evenings, taking riders toward higher overlooks as the sun drops behind the Adirondacks. Circle B Ranch is about 20 minutes north of Lake George Village, and reservations are required for trail rides.
