On this day…20 years ago at 9:00 a.m. on July 15th, 2005, Cheers Wine and Spirits opened our doors as the 1st package store to ever exist in Carrollton, GA.
A tremendous amount of hard work, faith, imagination and magic all came together to make this all a reality.
We have seen the good, the bad, and everything in between over these past years. Salesman, distributors and customers have become our friends— we sometimes find ourselves in the roll as their personal therapists (kinda like the bar in Boston).
Over the past twenty years we have had hundreds of employees, a lot of them have been college students. They became part of our team and a lot of them, we consider, part of our family. Once they graduated, they left us to go on to follow their careers, get married and now have families of their own.
I think back on so many faces, their stories and (their antics) the majority of them bring a big smile to my face. They stop by when they come back to Carrollton to catch up and say hello and actually bring their parents and kids in to meet us. After all we served as their “college moms” as we have been so fondly referred to.
We have had lots of personal highs and lows—remember the pandemic? Well, wasn’t that just a big ole piled high $: sandwich full of excitement? A year of curbside service that almost sent us all over the cliff. We have weathered the economic boom and busts of the past twenty years and honestly held our breath and strapped on for the roller coaster ride of our lives.
We have had personal losses, tragedies and triumphs. And we have also had the most blessings that any one could ever dream of…raising our own families and now our families having their own little ones.
It truly has been the worst of times and the very best of times.
Our customers are, have always been and will always be the heart of our business. They too have become friends and now “family” to us.
So, you see, a lot has happened on that corner of South Street and Maple over the past twenty years.
We so are proud to be a part of the business community, and we do our very best to give back to our community that we so deeply value, respect and love.
To all of you that have been part of this journey—“thank you” so very much. Thank you for your support, your kindness, your friendship and your trust.
If you’re still reading this and you were one of our employees drop us a comment of one of your favorite memories or experiences at Cheers. If you’re a customer please do the same. We love all your stories—and remember to keep it classy! Cheers 🥂 here’s to twenty more!
