Forgive the quality of the video-i usually use both hands to hold the wood.

I just wanted to share a peer at the journey these pieces take. It will be hours and hours yet before I have the leaves burned, and then it will be time to move on to the tree!

It's a labor of love though, and a great way to unwind after work.

Why are handmade item so much more expensive than bulk items made in factories?

A huge part of it is time. I'm working this piece for a retirement gift, and wanted to share a bit of the journey. I'm starting to put the leaves on my tree, but had to test multiple tips and techniques on scrap wood to come up with the right look. There will be LOTS of leaves, lol. I'll share a little video next!

Ever wonder what wood burning looks like in action? Here's a short clip where I am adding texture. (Please know I have to hold the camera in my left hand while burning with my right-and I have to look at the burn, not the camera, so the video quality suffers!) A project like this one may take me over 50 hours of burning, not including prep or finishing!
