Despite the chaos happening with litigation and enforcement of h**p rules in Texas, the thc train simply isn’t slowing down. Soon, every single Target in Texas will be selling thc beverages. The momentum is on the side of consumers. We must not let up on pushing for dramatic change to cannabis laws in the Lone Star State!

“Target is expanding cannabis beverage sales to more than 300 stores in Illinois, Florida and Texas. That includes every store in the latter two states and select stores in Illinois, due to the fact that some municipalities in the state have restricted h**p product sales.”

“At Target, we’re always exploring new ways to meet our guests’ evolving preferences, grounded in our merchandising authority and focus on thoughtfully curating a relevant assortment,” a spokesperson told the beverage industry trade publication.

“Target’s expansion of h**p THC beverage sales into the second, third and sixth most populous U.S. states comes months after Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed legislation that will recriminalize h**p-derived products containing more than 0.4 milligrams of THC per container.”

“Bipartisan lawmakers in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have pushed for a delay in the scheduled ban, which is set to take effect in November, but those efforts have not gained traction with congressional leadership.“

The first lawsuit is down to challenge the new DSHS finalized rules for regulating the Texas h**p industry. Texas h**p operators are not backing down. More legal battles are on the horizon. The survival of the Texas h**p industry hangs in the balance.

“A Texas-based h**p retailer has filed a lawsuit in Travis County to block new state regulations scheduled to take effect March 31, 2026, that would effectively ban many currently legal h**p products.”

“The legal challenge, filed March 17 by Boomtown V***r LLC, targets the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and its commissioner, Dr. Jennifer Shuford. The lawsuit alleges the agency is overstepping its authority by unilaterally redefining the legal standard for h**p.“

“The plaintiff is seeking a temporary restraining order to stop the enforcement of these rules, arguing that without it, thousands of Texas small businesses would face closure and layoffs. DSHS has not yet issued a public response to the filing.”
