Since the late 1930's, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed the vineyards of the Napa Valley. Our family history here is a constant source of inspiration and something that guides us in our wine making. We value the long relationship we've had with the land and people here, believing that the combined wisdom of the folks who have lived here for generations and a deep appreciation of these vineyards can be tasted in our wine.

This year marks the 400th anniversary of a groundbreaking work by Claudio Monteverdi: Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda. Monteverdi called this piece a madrigal. The world premiere of this piece took place on the last day of Carnival season in Venice on February 24, 1624, which that year fell on a Saturday just as it does this year.

February 24 celebrates the 400th anniversary of the world premiere of Claudio Monteverdi's madrigal Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, which included live horses in the performance!
