Good morning....

One of my culinary heroines is Ina Garten, (The Barefoot Contessa). She makes lovely, uncomplicated, delicious food. Recently, she was being interviewed and had this to say when asked about sharing with her "legions" of friends, "When you cook, everybody shows up." Thank y'all for showing up!!

Good morning.....

So....White Rd is undergoing some serious construction and it's about to get more serious. The signs are up that the road will be closed to through traffic for about a month beginning in early June. Finding an alternate route is going to be an adventure! And it's all in the name of a round-about. Love 'em or hate 'em, they seem to be the new craze!!

Also in June....Adam & Megan arrive 23 June and David & Agatha arrive 27 June. Unknown as yet if they will "cross-over." Needless to say,,,,but I will....the Deli will be closed that week. We're trading June closing for the July 4 break that we usually take. Family is more fun than fireworks!!

Good morning...

Wasn't sure the thunder would stop long enough for me to write this email! Noisey beginning to the morning.....

Step back in time at the Byron Train Depot Museum at 101 E. Heritage Blvd. Hours are Monday through Saturday 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Refurbished landmark featuring Byron photos and railroad collectibles. Byron history, folks....check it out!

Good morning.....

Well, good people, best laid plans and the gods laugh! Since the Deli was to be closed on Saturday for the Battle of Byron festivities, I "planned" the amount of product to have in house. Carefully. Purchased accordingly.

Then, the whole of Middle Georgia came for lunch! The guffaws..loud and raucous...those cheeky gods....sounded as I prepared sandwiches and ran out of everything!!

I've said it before; we have the greatest guests ever! As Vicki greeted them with the list of things we did not have, they just ordered something else and congratulated us on being that busy. Told y'all.....best guests EVER!

Good morning.....

Festivities abound this Saturday!! It's The Battle of Byron....games, food, fun downtown Byron. Friend, Austin and the BOB committee have been corralling all the "moving pieces" (no easy task with food trucks, vendors, game venues, et al). It's a great day...come out and join the fun!

The Deli will be closed on Saturday, so that Vicki and I can enjoy the BOB festivities, too.

It's also Derby Day....the 151st (that's one hundred fifty one!) Run for the Roses. Three year old thoroughbreds race 1 1/4 miles....the "most exciting two minutes in sports." Sight to behold..."Speed, heart and a bit of magic."

A good number of years back...lots!...good friends and I had Derby Parties...outrageous hats, bouquets of roses, Derby food, Mint Juleps, (one friend always said it was a waste of good Bourbon!) and wagers. Winner got a goodie basket, the money went to charity and we had a grand time!
