It’s rare that a wine made of Lodi-grown grapes makes the cut at Weimax, but here’s a good example of both the region and the rare Cinsault variety. Medium-bodied and along the lines of a youthful Gamay or Pinot Noir, this is an ideal red for a backyard barbecue. $36 at the winery, but we offer it for just $23.

A number of enlightened vintners were not fans of the Consortium which in the dark ages required a percentage of Trebbiano and Malvasia (white grapes) for a wine to be labeled as Chianti Classico. Only in 1996 did those requirements change. The 2022 Montevertine is a remarkable example of grand Tuscan winemaking. We are pleased to have a few bottles presently. And they still are not members of the Chianti Classico Consorzio.

When evaluating wines for a placement at Weimax, we often ask vintners what grape variety is in their Syrah bottles. That’s because we often find the wines to lack varietal character as they are merely “red wine.”
This California rendition positively sings, as the Syrah aromas and flavors are unmistakable. Far more noble than many GSM wines, come get a bottle of Pax Cuvée Syrah.

Many French Brut Rosés fetch a premium price, so having one that’s affordable and distinctively complex is a treat! We enjoyed a bottle recently with dinner as it was delicious on its own and with the starters. Snappy and bone dry.
