If you have been on social media, stopped for gas, or been to Food Lion in the last day, you have probably heard a lot of talk about this weekend’s winter weather predictions.
There is growing confidence that Buckingham County will see a significant winter storm. This storm may bring snow, sleet, and ice. We are still a day or two away from knowing exact amounts, but current forecasts agree that several inches of accumulating snow is possible. Temperatures are also expected to stay below freezing for several days.
Now is the time to get ready. Being prepared now can help keep you and your family safe if travel is difficult or if power is lost.
-Simple preparedness tips:
-Have at least 3 days of food and water for each person
-Do not forget food and water for pets
-Make sure you have a safe backup heat source
-Charge your cell phones and battery packs
-Keep flashlights and extra batteries nearby
-Have a small amount of cash on hand
-Check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those with medical needs
