TONIGHT 6-8! Sancerriously, Folks…
Sancerre Blanc, Rouge & Bubbly from Paul Prieur Domaine Paul Prieur - Sancerre
In the last few decades Sancerre has become almost synonymous with crisp white w**e from France. So much so that there are even shortages in challenging vintages. And when people say “Sancerre” they are invariably talking about Sancerre Blanc; it’s the single best known w**e from the Loire Valley, one of the best known from all of France.
There’s also Sancerre Rouge and Sancerre Rosé, both made from Pinot Noir. These w**es share the high acid and fresh characteristics of the Blanc, but the fruit is more along the lines of cherries and red currants, you might also notice orchard fruit, flowers, fresh herbs and of course, rocks. If you like Pinot Noir from any other region, these w**es are well worth exploring and the prices are good. And for some bonus fun, we’ve got a sparkling w**e from Sancerre for you tonight as well!
All of tonight’s w**es are from Paul Prieur. The domaine is in Verdigny, Sancerre in the Loire Valley. The Prieur family has been producing w**e for 11 generations, and today is led by Luc Prieur. They have 14 hectares dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, and 5 to Pinot Noir. Everything is organic and/or biodynamic. Cover crops, horse-plowing, hand-picking, natural pest control methods and solar panels – all that good stuff. The w**es are nicely balanced, elegant, and quite representative of their place. Join us for a Sancerrily beautiful evening…
Tip! We also have some back-vintages of Prieur Sancerre Blanc for sale. Follow the link in stories or come by tonight.
