Wednesday Wisdom, if you care to read 😉
I've been reflecting a lot lately about…well, everything.
This wild ride we call life has put me in some really dark places, spanning basically my entire life for as long as I can remember. And when I'm in the depths, it's really difficult—almost IMPOSSIBLE—to see that there IS a reason. That the struggles you face, the pain and despair you endure, can actually be meaningful and aren't just some sort of karmic punishment.
When I read this quote—"There's something in you that the world needs"—and saw it so cleverly overlaid on a human eye, it immediately made me tear up.
It was almost as though it was being spoken directly to me. Telling me to just hang on. Keep going. That maybe, just MAYBE, I have something to offer.
Logically, I know this is true. We ALL have something to offer others. Our presence. Our existence. Just BEING here can be a gift to someone, somewhere.
But man…when you're in it, when you're in the depths, it can be really difficult to see that.
Yesterday, I received a call about another business matter, and I was so appreciative of what else transpired before the call ended.
This wonderful soul shared with me that my vulnerability—my, as I like to call it, "verbal diarrhea" about my issues and struggles—has actually helped them during difficult times. That it helped them realize they aren't alone.
Of course, I cried for a few minutes after hanging up—that's just my way now-a-days 🙃
It put into perspective in a more tangible way something I know deep down: there IS something in me the world needs.
And there is something in ALL OF US that the world needs.
Otherwise…why are we here?
Even though I'm not at a point where I can say I feel all warm and fuzzy about all the sludge I've had to trudge through (and I doubt I'll ever feel that way), I am grateful for the little platform I have to be honest and genuine about how hard "life school"—as our friend Jenna calls it—can be.
If nothing else, maybe it helps someone else know that it's perfectly fine to not be fine.
When we're vulnerable on some sort of public platform, and also have a physical presence in a community where we share openly and genuinely, we never really know who we're helping, or how we're helping them, unless they tell us.
I'm incredibly grateful to this individual for sharing with me that I, in a small way, did have a positive impact on them. So for that… thank you. You know who you are. 😉
I'm currently navigating some of the most difficult and trying times I've ever experienced...and I feel that's saying quite a bit.
But I've also picked up a hell of a lot more tools than I've ever had before.
So I'm leaving you with this:
If you're just tired of it all…if you've had it and feel like you've had it for the LAST time…know that there IS something in you the world needs.
Everything you've endured, experienced, and learned up until now has given you just a little bit more to help you handle whatever comes next.
You're needed.
You're valued.
You matter.
Enjoy your Wednesday🖤
