On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Jason Waller was sworn in as District Attorney for Prosecutorial District 13, encompassing Johnston County. Appointed by Governor Josh Stein, District Attorney Jason Waller steps into this role following the retirement of longtime District Attorney Susan Doyle, who served the community with distinction for over three decades. The Honorable Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Thomas H. Lock administered the oath of office to Waller and his staff.
District Attorney Jason Waller was born in Beulaville, North Carolina. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a Concentration of Public Relations and a Minor in History, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He brings to the role nearly 19 years of prosecutorial experience, beginning his career in 2006 as an Assistant District Attorney in Wake County before joining the Johnston County District Attorneyโs Office in 2018. Throughout his career, District Attorney Jason Waller has managed serious felony prosecutions, led courtroom operations, and worked to enhance efficiency and fairness in the criminal justice system. His leadership and commitment to public safety have earned him respect throughout the law enforcement and legal communities.
