Gardner, Massachusetts—once known as the “Chair City of the World”—was home to one of the largest chairs ever built. This oversized wooden landmark was created by the Heywood-Wakefield Company and stood proudly to showcase Gardner’s thriving furniture industry. In its heyday, Gardner produced more chairs than any other city in the U.S., and this massive chair became a symbol of local pride and craftsmanship.
