Thrilled to have three of our partners recognized by the 2026 Volcanic Wine Awards! This unique contest brought together experts to taste through hundreds of wines from volcanic terroirs, with the goal of showing just how distinctive and certainly alluring wines from such primal, mineral soils can be.

Founded by John Szabo, MS () at and in partnership with JancisRobinson.com (), this contest recognized the outstanding wines of Italian growers Antonino Caravaglio on Salina, Mirella Buscemi on Etna, and the team at Cantine Olivella in Campania!

GROWER HIGHLIGHT | AZIENDA AGRICOLA LUIGI VICO

The vinous history of .vico is deeply rooted in Serralunga d’Alba, where his family has owned vineyards since the late seventeenth century. In 2016, drawn back to the Piedmontese hills of his childhood, Luigi decided he was ready to bottle their beautiful Nebbiolo grapes under the family name -- and the Vico estate was born.

Working with his long-time friend and well-known winemaker Davide Rosso, Luigi's wines come from excellent vineyards across Serralunga: Prapò, Meriame, and Prato Done. These are gorgeous Barolo wines that are as suave and silky as they are age-worthy, and unmistakably Serralunga.

GROWER HIGHLIGHT | DOMAINE LANCELOT-ROYER

Domaine Lancelot-Royer is a small, family estate in Cramant devoted entirely to Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. For decades, Michel Chauvet has overseen every step himself, and he now works with his son Édouard in a way that harkens back to an earlier era of Champagne. From hand riddling and disgorgement to labeling bottles one by one, they prioritize patience and attention to detail to great effect!

The results are pure, finely etched blanc de blancs that reflect the chalk soils of Cramant with clarity and lift. Fermented and aged with care, then matured in the estate’s hand carved chalk cellars, the wines show bright citrus, quiet depth, and a sense of craftsmanship that is increasingly rare in Champagne.

GROWER HIGHLIGHT | L'ERTA DI RADDA

At , winemaker Diego Finocchi and his partner in life and wine, Elisa Arretini, tend 12 acres of Sangiovese in the steep hills around his hometown of Radda. Founded in 2006, estate vines sit at high elevation in the heart of Chianti Classico, among forest and stony hillsides, with cooler temperatures and very rocky soils.

This Chianti couple's goal is simple: to make wines that feel true to the awe-inspiring energy of Radda. Their Chianti Classico wines are tailor-made for fine cuisine, with lift, clarity, bright fruit, and lively acid. They perfectly capture the stony, mountain character of this corner of Chianti.

In the colder weather, we lean into red wines that keep us cozy when the temperature drops. Here's another set of our current favorites:

From , Gigondas showcases old-vine Grenache at its most silky and spicy, with complex and powerful flavors in every vintage.

Barolo combines fruit from three excellent vineyards in Monforte. Suave, fresh, and structured, it carries Nebbiolo’s savory edge with elegance.

Brunello delivers high-altitude Sangiovese layered with red berries and spice. Perfect alongside a rare ribeye on a cold night.

Winter calls for wines of depth and powerful character. Here are a few reds we're pouring this season:

From Domaine JMB Sorrel, Hermitage Rouge "Le Vignon" is stately yet supple, pure Syrah with intense dark berry, light cocoa and woodsy notes. Built for the long haul, but hard to resist now.

Crozes-Hermitage Rouge "Espiègle" is mischievous by name and nature. Fruity, teasing, and lively, this Syrah brings energy to a cold night.

From , Côtes du Rhône Vieilles Vignes Cuvée Unique is drawn from the estate's older vines. Spicy, sultry, quietly age-worthy, and a little too easy to pour another glass.

has farmed the grand cru slopes of Bouzy for nearly three centuries. Today, Delphine and David continue to nurture their grapes here in the chalk rich vineyards which are planted predominantly to Pinot Noir.

The estate preserves historic styles such as Oeil de Perdrix, a rare amber-colored, highly sought-after Jean Vesselle wine that celebrates Champagne’s past. From the tiny walled Petit Clos to their parcels across the Montagne de Reims, the commitment to tradition and long aging in bottle ensures Champagnes of depth, clarity, and gorgeous vinous character.
