I was driving my truck down Hwy 5 between Benton & Bryant hauling material to a job site. Over the radio they started talking about the plane that hit the 1st tower. Shortly after the second plane hit, and the news of an attack was coming out. Confusion and fear of not knowing what was happening came over everyone across our country. We shut down and went home to watch the news and saw the devastation.
That’s what I was doing when we were attacked. I will never forget.
In March of 2024 Jamie and I went to NYC on vacation; we made a point to go to the Twin Towers Memorial and Museum. Looking at photos, seeing the vehicles crushed, in awe of the iron structures tagged by families of victims lost; we were both overcome with sadness and as our eyes filled with tears we couldn’t get over how powerful this place was. So many lives lost, so many innocent victims, so many 1st Responders and citizens struggling in panic to try and save others not realizing they too would be overcome by the destruction that was still coming as the buildings collapsed.
As you stand in the basement in the footprint of this place you can feel the tremendous presence of those who were lost.
Today we reflect on this event and also our trip there. If you ever get the chance to go see this memorial, I hope you will.

In times of tragedy we have no color, no ethnicity, no gender, no individual religion, no reservations towards others.
As we should be;

WE ARE ONE

I pray at some point before I pass, without a tragedy I will see again a country where all are welcome, all are one, all working together to achieve our own American dream. Because that is what this Country was built on.
