Although we decided we couldn’t stay in business, we have plenty of friends still in the industry…so just a reminder to be kind! 😊. It’s been a very hard year+ for anyone in the food business!

From a friend in the industry:
All of this, please be kind and patient. We are short staffed and tired. Most of us worked through the whole pandemic, while others were laid off or worked from home. Now everyone is out and traveling. Yes we can be fully open now, but may not have the staff.

Be nice, tip well!

A peek into the restaurant industry:
🥩 Our beef prices are up 47%
🐔 Our chicken prices are up a minimum of 40% for breast and over 100% for wings
🍤 Our shrimp went up 25% today and is probably just starting “the climb”
🐽 Our Pork is up 51%
🐠 Our cod is up 30% with limited availability
💳 Credit Card usage and associated fees are up and 💵 is down
🛍 Paper products are up 20% or limited in earth friendly stock
🚚 Delivery fees are up because fuel is up and orders are not always filled because drivers are limited
⬇️ Staffing is down and wages are up ⬆️
🙋🏽 New staff are learning = learning curve
❤️ Be kind to your small businesses.
🤗 Show grace and give constructive feedback (one star reviews and Facebook rants are not constructive feedback).
💰 Stop saying “if they paid more” about small businesses. Small business owners take incredible financial risks, sacrifice so much of their family time, give so much to charities, have unpredictable pricing, equipment failures, are impacted by weather, high insurance costs…the list goes on.

As we look back on all of the BVD memories of the past 5 years, this was a bittersweet and very busy weekend! Thank you so very much to all who stopped in, shared kind words and sent us off with good wishes (I only had tears a couple of times 🥲)! This is one awesome community that we are blessed to be part of! ❤️

We would be remiss if we didn’t do a special shout out to Chris Brigham! 🤩Brig is a wonderful, kind, gentle, big-hearted guy who we were lucky to have the pleasure of working next to for so many years. Brig started with us when BVD opened on Day One and closed with us on our Last Day😊. Thank you Brig for everything...the world needs more of you ✌️🌟🥃🤍

Happy Hump Day!!!

We can’t thank everyone enough for so many kind words and happy thoughts as we continue our journey toward closing BVD. This has been an awesome 5 years and we will certainly miss you all!

Happy Friday Eve!

This is a message that we hoped we wouldn’t have to post but it is with heavy hearts that we are announcing BVD will be closing after May 30th. Although we had significant interest from many potential buyers, it does not appear that we will have a new buyer in place before then.

There are a number of factors going into this business decision including family obligations. As a small family-owned business, this past year has been one of the hardest ever for an endless list of reasons. Maintaining and sustaining this type of business throughout the pandemic and in the current environment has only become increasingly challenging, difficult and often nearly impossible. After so much hard work, dedication and sometimes even blood, sweat and tears, this is not a decision we made easily or take lightly. But like so many others during a pandemic, it’s the decision we had to make. The last year has also caused priorities to change and family has to come first.

We are so grateful to the community for welcoming us, supporting the business and trusting us to serve your families for the past 5 years. We have watched our community do wonderful things and have been blessed to have been here with you - through parades, weddings, deer reportings, Super Bowl Sundays, and so many more events that connected us all!

We couldn’t have had the success or done what we have done without the love and support of our customers, current and past employees, friends and family! We have gained many lasting friendships, been invited to be part of your graduations and weddings and watched new babies and kids grow up! And so many of our employees are now like family to us! ❤️

We encourage you to redeem any outstanding gift certificates before we close and we look forward to seeing many of you in the days ahead. We expect to be open our regular hours through Sunday, May 30th.
