The Tule River tribe celebrated the grand opening of Eagle Feather Trading Post II, located just outside of Avenal on the corner of highways 33 and 41 in 2012. The Tribal Council provided a bus for Tribal members to attend the festivities and many drove over. Rhoda Hunter, Tamara Hernandez, Koby Nieto and Roxanne Carrillo all provided the blessing with traditional prayer and song. Blue Jacket ente
rtained during the day as well as Blood River with Sophie Carrillo dancing. The tribe, branching out with its development efforts, purchased the store because of its location along the main route between the Central Valley and the Central Coast. The station was opened in early February. The new store has many gourmet items for sale such as Plano Jerky, dried fruit, nuts and Armstrong Olives, all from Porterville, which will help boost the Porterville economy as well as Kettleman City and Avenal, said officials.
