Welcome 🇺🇸 to our W**e(s) of the Moment: Aperture Cellars!

Aperture Cellars of Sonoma County was founded by W**emaker Jesse Katz and his Father, renowned photographer Andy Katz. Jesse caught the “w**e bug” as a young teen traveling with his father to Burgundy - developing a profound respect for the scents, flavors, and culture of w**e while the guests of Old World greats. In the following two decades, Jesse learned the art of viticulture and w**emaking from the finest producers - Pétrus in Bordeaux, Viña Cobos and Bodega Noemia in Argentina as well as Screaming Eagle W**ery and Robert Foley W**ery in Napa. In 2009, Jesse and his Father founded and dedicated Aperture to expressing the region’s potential for producing world-class Bordeaux varietals and w**es in California. Jesse has crafted more than three dozen 100-point w**es across Aperture and his broader portfolios, producing the first-ever 100-point Malbec in U.S. history and the first 100-point w**e from Alexander Valley.

We’ve secured a small collection of three of Aperture’s latest releases - their 2024 Sauvignon Blanc, 2022 Red W**e (primarily Merlot & Malbec with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot) and their 96-point (Robert Parker’s W**e Advocate) rated 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon at a special price!

“Based in the village of Sablet, Domaine de Verquière has been in the Chamfort family for four generations. Today Thibaut Chamfort farms the 45-hectare estate organically, continuing a tradition that helped put Sablet on the w**e map: his grandfather Louis began bottling at the domaine in 1964 and helped establish the Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet appellation in 1974. This Saturday we’ll taste four of the domaine’s reds, from Sablet and Rasteau to Vacqueyras and Gigondas, exploring how the Southern Rhône’s varied soils and traditional grape varieties shape the character of each w**e.”

Tasting them side by side offers a fascinating look at how differences in place and site are expressed through a single grape variety and a single vintage.”

“Domaine des Perrelles is a family estate located in Juliénas since 1877. Today the w**ery is run by 6th and 7th generation Martine & Laurent Perrachon, and their two sons. They continue the work of their ancestors, with 34 hectares of vines spread among 7 appellations: Beaujolais‑Villages, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin à Vent, Fleurie, Chenas and most recently Saint‑Amour. In addition, they make a small amount of w**e from the Mâconnais, notably Pouilly Fuisée, and Crémant de Bourgogne. Their plans for the future, are to eliminate any use of chemical products, reduce intervention in the vineyards and continue to be ambassadors for the Beaujolais Crus and their new parcel-focused cuvées. Their farming philosophy is sustainable with organic processes.”
