As many of you have likely heard, I have officially retired. Because I wasn’t able to personally say my goodbyes and express my gratitude to each of you, I wanted to take this opportunity to do so, and to introduce you to the new owners.
When we opened Idle Spur on July 1, 1997, we could never have imagined how many wonderful people would come into our lives. Serving this community has been both an honor and a true joy. Over the years, I’ve watched families grow and change—children growing up, heading off to college, and even starting families of their own. Those moments have been a beautiful reminder of how quickly time passes, and how precious it truly is. That realization is what has led me to this next chapter: retirement.
What I will miss most about having the store as part of my daily life are the connections—the conversations, the laughter, the shared stories, and even the tears. Each of you has been part of something so meaningful to me, and I will carry those memories with me always.
I would also like to extend a very special thank you to Vicki and Michele. Without them, running the store would not have been possible. These incredible women supported me in countless ways: working long hours and double shifts during some very difficult times, running errands, making long trips to keep the store stocked, and so much more than I could ever fully express. Their dedication and kindness mean more to me than words can say. I am so happy they decided to stay and can continue to be a friendly and familiar face during the transition.
I truly hope that when you walked into The Idle Spur over the years, you felt the love and respect I have always had for this community. As I step away, I wish nothing but the very best for the new owners, Charlie and Fabi, (and daughter, Cookie.) It is my sincere hope that you will welcome them with the same warmth and generosity you showed my family nearly 29 years ago.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being such an important part of my life. While this chapter is coming to a close, I look forward to spending my time with family and friends. And being in my gardens!
Thank you again for so many great memories and your patronage,
Kathy
