Lenny Eckstein of Deerhammer Distilling Company has declared the attire for the ABV Barrel Shop's Fourth Anniversary party to be Hawaiian-themed. That makes some real sense to us. First, it's fun. Second, owner Steve Akley is known for wearing Hawaiian shirts... and third, Kanoa’s Hawaiian Grill is going to be there serving up the most authentic Hawaiian food in the area.

We're in Lenny!

We're even going to kick up the fun on Lenny's idea. If you wear a Hawaiian shirt/outfit we'll give you a free Hawaiian lei. The best Hawaiian shirt of the day will receive a cool trophy (we'll have to take your contact information since there are four sessions).

We added a fun new twist to our Fourth Anniversary Festival on July 11... a Best of Show winner for the distillery participants... and you get to help decide who wins. Each ticket holder will get to vote on their favorite distillery at the event. Unlike most contests, you are allowed to take bribes... so if they have a special pour or small gift that secures your vote, so be it (we do know our distillers are competitive and the winner gets this sweet Best of Show barrel head so they will be competing for it)!

UPDATE: THE OLD MONROE IS SOLD OUT!

We've got two amazing picks that just arrived yesterday at the ABV Barrel Shop. Let's take a look at each of them:

First up is our 9-Year-2-Month old bourbon from Old Monroe. It is 136.5 proof and retails for just $65. It's distiller Adam Stumpf's oldest release to-date. Our own Colonel Steve has drank as much Old Monroe as anyone besides Adam himself, and he has declared this the best bourbon Old Monroe has ever put in a bottle. We had 35 people in last night for our bottle release party with just 10 cases (that was our yield) and only 3 cases are left. This post is hitting at 11:00 AM and we can assure you this one will be sold out by lunch time today. If you want this one, stop reading this post immediately and call the ABV Barrel Shop to pay for a bottle (no holds, it's going to go today, so we need you to pay for a bottle if you want it). You can pick it up at your leisure, but this is your only chance to get this one. Consider this a warning because it's going to disappear as soon as the cash register is fired up.

The other barrel we got yesterday is pretty darn special as well. It's a 128.2 proof 8-1/2-Year Light Whiskey from Starlight Distillery. Meredith Bousman, one of our regulars took a sip and declared it a "breakfast whiskey" it drank so easy. For just $50... you are reading that right... only 50 bucks for a 8.5-year-old 128+ proof whiskey this is one to fill the bunker with.

We've got so many picks hitting at the festival, we could rename this one Barrel Picks Festival. Here's a look at the distilleries that will be releasing barrels at the ABV Barrel Shop's Fourth Anniversary Festival:

St. Louis-based Luxco has a large catalog of brands including Yellowstone, Remus, Penelope, Ezra Brooks and many more. Normally, Dustin Parres mans a table at our events but he will be out of town, but that doesn't mean Luxco won't be in attendance.
