Happy Labor Day!!! We spent the day preparing for paint this week! That’s right… the old building is about to look a lot different to the world. 😉❤️🌈🎉

Taste tester day!! I was so nervous to fire up the devices to finally make food… not sure about all you, but never working in food industry before I am super paranoid the “taste” will be dog poop…. So thank you to all the friends that showed up today and were my taste testers (and offered suggestions). It allowed me to trial and error… make a list of what we need for the kitchen…. And most of all to learn. I genuinely have a new appreciation for any new startup business… it’s so nerve racking.

Antelope use to be a booming town!! It feels so good to bring back a business to create local jobs and have the ability to buy basic groceries and supplies in town. We are getting closer, working very hard and sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this last stretch.

Week 35: lots of little finishing touches. While it may not look like much is getting done, it is. From finishing molding to putting coats on all unfinished exposed wood surfaces so we can be sure to clean properly and sanitize. My goal is to be the cleanest road side pit stop in Oregon (seriously). We are personally doing the finishing work ourselves and it’s making the project very rewarding. I officially earned a dirty hat ring this week (Alex told me I should wash my hat)… Looking forward to moving ahead.

We passed inspection and can officially open! Waiting on our point of sale system and inventory to arrive … and then we are in business. This is so exciting, and while I was so caught up in preparing for inspection, last night fishing on the John Day River with my son, he looked up and said, “Mom, why is the moon upside down?” Ahhhhhh…. I totally spaced the lunar eclipse!!!... We rushed home to get the tale end of it. It’s funny how things happen, and how we can celebrate the small moments. Love this life we get to enjoy in Antelope. Please come visit!

Week 34: Feels like I’m at the end of a marathon… and my shirt hit that home today. Wearing old clothes to paint and I realized my shirt was the same shirt I wore in 2015 during my “first” ever marathon ran in Portland. I will never forget that feeling of crossing the Burnside bridge and started to uncontrollably cry because I couldn’t believe I finally survived a full marathon. Well I cried today. This project has been so hard and many challenges faced, however for once I feel we are on the home stretch. Putting shelving up today symbolizes crossing that bridge and I am so looking forward to these shelves being stocked soon. Stay tuned for next steps.

Catching up…. “Time”…. Family and making the most of the remaining summer has been our priority the last few weeks while we are waiting on permits/licenses and distribution agreements. Now that we are in this phase of the project we want to take time to enjoy life too. The Fires were a major hit not only to our business, but to our ranch life, friends, and neighbors impacted. I hope folks realize how hard it is. When Antelope is truly in the middle of the Wild West, we mean it. Being resilient is a must, not a choice. So going forward, we are going to get to the finish line. Until then, please please take the time to book a cabin and continue to spread the word of our project. recovery

We see stars!!! Wow the last few weeks have been a challenge. From the evacuation notifications, fires, then smoke, we clearly understand we cannot control Mother Nature (or the direction the wind blows). With that said we trust our guests to make the trek to support us as we can still see the stars!! Amid all the chaos, let their be stars ♥️🙏🥹🥰

We are open!!! Blue sky and all. We just ordered an Air Quality Meter and it should be here by next week. In the meantime be checking PurpleAir for conditions. The past couple weeks have been a huge financial hit to our business due to Fires. We had 80% occupancy booked since July 15th and just got our first guest back last night. That’s a lot of guests cancellations. Our insurance does not cover us for lost earnings because we haven’t been in business long enough. Please support us by booking this fall, or sharing our story with others to come visit. We promise we are giving this our all and sincerely appreciate the prayers and support those that have reached out to us have given. Sincerely blessed to have great guests. Oh… our OUTDOOR SHOWER is officially open too! Love making progress and we can only get better from here on out.

The fire is over!!! Oh it’s such a relief, we even got rain today! Sincerely appreciate all those that volunteered and donated “time”….food and supplies. Special thank you to Oregon Beef in Madras for donating meat that we cooked for the crews. Thank you seriously to everyone that was thinking of us and “Thank you” to those that showed up and helped. This was definitely a team effort by the community.
