Week 2 of AOTM we learn a little bit more about the multi talented Sushila.

Q 6. If any, what outside influences shape your art? My glass artwork in inspired by Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha.

Q 7. What currently motivates you? Hard deadlines.

Q 8. How has your work evolved? My glass work started with small fused glass jewelry pieces. My artwork has developed into large fused glass projects, commissions and restorations in stained glass, creating and teaching mosaic artwork, and learning and creating new paintings on glass.

Ever wonder what made purple a “royal” color? The pigment was made using hundreds, even thousands, of murex snails for their mucus. It was an extremely laborious process, causing the dye to be so expensive that it was reserved for royalty!
