Every summer, our players arrive from all over the world and have only a few weeks to forge their diverse cultures and experiences into a cohesive team. Beyond the technical training on the pitch, the players must also learn to manage pressure, recover from adversity, communicate effectively, and support one another.
That's why AFC Ann Arbor partnered with Victor Panza during the 2026 season to host a workshop focused on our players’ mental wellbeing. Drawing on his background in group psychotherapy, owner and chief therapist Victor Panza combined practical mental performance techniques with discussions designed to strengthen team connection.
We were really impressed with the experience and look forward to doing it again.
Pressure often reflects how much a moment matters. The goal is not to avoid it, but to develop the tools to perform alongside it.
We want to win matches, but we also want players to feel supported during their time here. The friendships, confidence, and habits they build in Ann Arbor can stay with them wherever their soccer careers take them.
