100% we have no idea whether those May evening clouds will give us a warm sunny afternoon or a moody coastal kind of day… but either way, you should probably pick up a bottle of Le Jade Picpoul de Pinet.
Picpoul de Pinet comes from the Mediterranean coast of Southern France and is one of the BEST warm-weather white wines in the world. The grape itself — Picpoul — is famous for its bright acidity and salty, citrusy freshness. In fact, the name loosely translates to “lip stinger,” a nod to the grape’s naturally crisp acidity.
We had intended on pouring this in our Porch Pounders tasting this week, but Montana inventory levels didn’t allow for it. So instead, we are filling you all in on the good juice here.
Think lemon zest, green apple, sea spray, and fresh flowers with a clean minerality that makes it interesting (if you want it to be) and easily porch-poundable (if you want it to be).
The Mediterranean locals drink it with oysters, shrimp, and grilled fish. The Montana locals drink it with sunshine and patio snacks 😂
If you love Vinho Verde, Sauvignon Blanc, or Albariño, Picpoul deserves a spot in your fridge this summer.
